Martha Parker

The heart/walk race in Laurel was so much fun. Melvin won an award in his age group and our only tradegy was that Deana fell and skint her knee while looking over to encourage Melvin. She hit some uneven road and lost her footing. She is fine they patched her up back at the wellness center. We all finished the race in under an hour and our first mile we finished in 17 minutes that was all our personal best time so we were happy. It was not too hot and the sun didn't start shining until they were giving out the awards.

My son Alex was waiting for me at the finish line and had a great big towel and bottle of cold water for me. I went home with him after the race and fell asleep on his couch until lunch time. I think I was supposed to be watching him play halo but I am sure I fell asleep. We went to lunch at Ryan's on 16th avenue and my brother and Alex's girlfriend, Cassidi, came in and we all had lunch together.

On Sunday after church I went to the gym and walked the 3.5 miles for the day and after supper I went over to the walking track and got in yet one more mile. I have all this exercise worked in to my schedule and now it's part of my routine to exercise and it's all thanks to the biggest loser competition that I have been able to change my lifestyle to include exercise in my busy schedule.

Above or below the yellow line, I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the competition and to make great new friends.

  1. Martha, I know that we will all below the yellow line at some point. But as you pointed out, I am so thankful for this competition. We have all learned so much from it and we are blessed to have met such wonderful people as you. For that I am forever grateful.
