Denise Jones- Haddox

Wow I dont read the blog for a day or so and I am out of the loop. Sorry Amber about your family having the flu, that is tough. Just remember try and stay hydrated. Hope your little one is getting better.
Deana - GIRL- you and that foot, maybe you need to get it seen about. I already know you are keeping it elevated. I am hoping and praying it gets better.

As for me it has been a tough week, I am doing everything like we all are, I feel like I am frustrated because I don't feel like I had any weight movement this week.
I am up to 1 hour nu step, 1 hour treadmill, and today I did 10 minutes on Elliptical ( that was like a miracle) . I see progress but my personality and nature is impatient and I want it all to fall of super fast. I missed you all at the gym the evening, I went in around 4 and left around 545 and I did not see anyone. I am having to come a little earlier where I can go and get my son.

See ya tomorrow and good luck to all,
Denise

Adrienne Patterson

Good Day Everyone,

I worked out this afternoon at the LiveWell Center so I didn't see any of the crew there. I am not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in, but I cannot wait to see what our next challenge will be tomorrow at Corner Market.

See ya tomorrow!

LISA GATWOOD

Hi all! I went and exercised this morning at the gym. I worked harder than I ever have today.
I'm so tired but feel so accomplished. Amber I hate to hear that, I prayed for y'all. I appreciate your concern about all us not wanting to give it to us. I have diabetes and God knows I don't want it ( LOL ).Your Lil boy has been on my mind so much I pray that God heals him very soon. I have a 2 year old and I sympathize with you. Miss D I'm glad to see your alright to I was worried about you also. I will see y'all tomorrow. Please continue to pray for all of us. With God and prayer we can accomplish anything.

Amber Finnegan

Thank you Judy and Lisa for thinking about us. Unfortunately...I got diagnosed with the flu today and my husband I believe has it as well. We are all confined to the house and feeling horrible. I hope to see everyone Thursday but the Dr. told me I could not go back to work until Friday and that is if the fever breaks by then, so we will see. I can't hold much down so I guess that is helping me stay on track with my diet...LOL! I promise I will only come if I am "A-Ok" because I do not want to give this mess to any of you. Please say a little prayer for all of us to get better and especially for my little boy. See you all soon.

AMBER

LISA GATWOOD

JUDY PRICE

Amber Finnegan

Thank You! Thank You! Thank you to all who voted! It really means alot to me to have so much support behind me to be the Biggest Loser! I got a great workout in on Saturday morningn and saw Mrs. Judy Price. We had a great workout together. My little boy became sick over the weekend and I woke up feeling quite yucky today as well. I took him on to the Dr. this afternoon and we found out that he has the flu. He is only 8 months old so everyone please keep him in your prayers. I think my husband and I are coming down with the flu also. We can endure alot better than my little Reid can, so everyone please please please keep in your prayers. I hope that I get a workout in this week but right now all my energy is going towards keeping me going to take care of my little boy. I hope to see everyone on Thursday.

The entire group from Saturday's event

We all finished in under 60 minutes. We had a great time and Rebecca and her husband, De came and supported our efforts. Deana hurt her ankle and we need to hold her up in prayer. She is missing the workout tonight because her foot is swollen and she needs to prop it up.
The Laurel walk/run was an awesome time and I am so happy to have been a part of it. The pine belt pacers took the great pictures.

The Saturday Walk Run in Laurel

We are so proud of Melvin, he won in his age group.

Martha Parker

The heart/walk race in Laurel was so much fun. Melvin won an award in his age group and our only tradegy was that Deana fell and skint her knee while looking over to encourage Melvin. She hit some uneven road and lost her footing. She is fine they patched her up back at the wellness center. We all finished the race in under an hour and our first mile we finished in 17 minutes that was all our personal best time so we were happy. It was not too hot and the sun didn't start shining until they were giving out the awards.

My son Alex was waiting for me at the finish line and had a great big towel and bottle of cold water for me. I went home with him after the race and fell asleep on his couch until lunch time. I think I was supposed to be watching him play halo but I am sure I fell asleep. We went to lunch at Ryan's on 16th avenue and my brother and Alex's girlfriend, Cassidi, came in and we all had lunch together.

On Sunday after church I went to the gym and walked the 3.5 miles for the day and after supper I went over to the walking track and got in yet one more mile. I have all this exercise worked in to my schedule and now it's part of my routine to exercise and it's all thanks to the biggest loser competition that I have been able to change my lifestyle to include exercise in my busy schedule.

Above or below the yellow line, I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the competition and to make great new friends.

I have packed my bags so that I can meet everyone at the gym tomorrow after work. See everyone there!

LISA GATWOOD

Hey everyone! I know everyone is doing well.

Denise Jones-Haddox

Went walking this am with the heart walk in hattiesburg and then went to the Pecan Festival and did a little more walking out in the heat. However at about 130 I was tired and ready to come home and get under the AC. Connor ( son) and Jory ( husband) both joined me all day and that is a GREAT day.
PS - No I did not drink or eat one thing at the festival. I made sure I ate my lunch before we got there so these temptations did not occur.
Denise

Judy Price (Mimi)

Hey every body. Checking in with you all. I am so glad that all of you went on the walk and sorry I could not be there. I really would have liked to been there with you. I did go workout today and saw Amber there. We had a good talk while we worked out as well. You know I have even met some other people there too. Most of them are older than I and I really like talking to them. I went and got my hair cut from my daughter who works at Fantastic Sams and not only cut but
a razor cut. It looks good and also little color as well. As you know Melvin told me that the young lady I met at the Wesley Hospital track said I was a old lady. Well even though it is my birthday, I'm a long way from OLD!!! I am happy to tell my age. I am 47 today and I can hang with the best. LOL Nuttin but love

DEANA STEVISON

Hello everyone, just taking the time to say hello, Martha, Melvin, Rebecca, and her husband, and myself did the 5K in Laurel this morning. I am thank-full for the progress I have made, 5 weeks ago I would never have dreamed of walking in a 5K and had only managed 2 miles on my on, Thank You, again WDAM and the LIVEWELL CENTER IN HATTIESBURG AND ALL THE GREAT STAFF for allowing us to be part of this opportunity, my life is changing for the better. I then went on to my grandson's first soccer game, he is the inspiration for me to get healthy and live longer, I am going to see him play all sports, graduate high school, go to college, and get married, many years from now, Thanks for all the support from family, friends, staff members, and WDAM viewers. Going to prop my foot up for a bit, had a little spill in the 5K walk, but I finished it. Deana

Back from the Heart Walk

It was very humid out there this morning, I never sweated so much in my life. Denise and RoRo were also at the walk this morning. It is so good to see so many people in Hattiesburg coming out to support such a great cause.

Jennifer was also there cheering us on, if it were not for her and this challenge, I would not be participating in this walk (especially since I had to wake up so early) LOL. But I felt great after the walk.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUDY, stay away from the cake just like you did last weekend.

I am now going to shower and go get my hair done and then go to the Art Walk, so that will be a little more walking around. Hope to see others there tonight.

Have a great weekend!

Judy Price (Mimi)

Well today I got a late start on my work out. I did walk to the post office from my job which a total of .6 miles and then got home and walked 2 more before it started to drizzle rain. I then ate a piece of steak my husband cooked for me and it taste like heaven. Also had asparagus. I then got on my bike and rode it as I say to nowhere. But I set up a small television set on my back porch so the ride is not so boring and I had a good ride. I wish all the best in the run/walk tomorrow and Jennifer I am so glad that you did not get hurt with your accident. Whether you know it or not, you mean the world to us!!!!!!!! I will be going to the gym tomorrow and work out for the first time since last weigh in. It is my birthday and I might go out with my sister but not sure as the grand babies will be back home. I want everyone to know I have been having the time of my life these past few weeks and hope it continues. I know soon and very soon it is going to get harder and harder for the weight to come off and it will just take more hard work and determination. Getting the weight off is easy. Keeping it off is the hard part and with rebecca training all of us big ole babies it should only get better. We should all know how to eat already but food is fun and taste so good. Learning a new way to eat will be just as easy and fun as well and we will all look so good and feel so much better for it. Thanks you guys for being my friends and look forward to seeing all of you soon.
People please remember to vote for your Biggest Loser
Much love

Judy

LISA GATWOOD

Hey y'all! I hate to vote 4 only one person. I am glad that we don't have to choose like Denise said.
Don't worry Judy I wont let the green tomato police get me(lol)I hope to see y'all tonight at the gym. I cant express how proud i am of everyone.
I'm also proud of myself for the 21lbs I've lost.
I cant wait until I'm 140 lbs. I want to thank everyone in our group for the encouragement that we give to each other. I look forward to seeing and talking to everyone when i go to the gym. Thank everyone for the prayers.

Vote for Martha Parker

Hey Everyone! We are all gearing up for our next week of workouts. It never stops, I look forward to my "rest" day as Jennifer at FG Livewell calls it. Today I am down, my feet are swelling and I think I am going to have them checked later this afternoon. This may be some of my problem this week, I have never had a problem in the past and I am curious as to why this is going on now. I am sitting at my desk with my feet propped up in order to help reduce the swelling. I have also been going out into the office hallways for some longer walks just to see it that will help too.

Tomorrow is the walk/run in Laurel and it's going to be such a fun day, I have been growning a little becasue I am a sleep later person and tomorrow I have to be in Laurel at 7AM to register. But it's going to be so much fun that I am just going to get up and do it. My reward for ending the race will be that I am going to see my grown up sons at the finish line. I am very proud of both of them for their accomplishments and now they are so encouraging to me while I work to stay above the yellow line. The three of us are a team and when we work to see the best in each other. They are helping me with the voting this weekend. Please take time to vote, this contest is so important to each of us below the yellow line. I'd appreciate your vote because it's important to me. So have a great day and vote, vote, vote.
God Bless you.

Teresa Davis

Hi Everyone I hate to see the ones that hit the bottom 4 I wish I could vote for all of you but its only 1 vote per computer. So I have to choose also I am trying my best to stay on track with the weight loss but when you don't have that push, shove,or someone helping its HARD VERY HARD I have not work out except with a friend of mine this week I have not been to the gym since my daughter has been sick Maybe Monday.I want to wish everyone good luck and have a blessed Weekend.

Adrienne Patterson

A special thanks to Jennifer and Kim for the pep talk last week and thanks also to Rebecca for the ATTITUDE adjustment, your tips did the trick LOL. I had a great weigh in yesterday, but you have no time to celebrate during a competition because now it's time to work even harder for next week's weigh in.

Also a thanks to Play It Again Sports for the gift certificate, I will use it this weekend.

I just back from an exhausting workout at the LiveWell Center, I saw John and his wife there, he was weighing in (he is doing a great job). I am planning a fun filled weekend for me and the family. First we are doing the Heart walk tomorrow morning and the Art Walk after that. Then Sunday we will go to church, then meet RoRo for a walk, then we will head to the Pecan Festival.

Who would have thought that exercising would give me so much energy? I have more energy to run and dance around the house with my baby (things that I was too tired to do before). But thanks to WDAM and Forrest General Wellness, I am becoming a new, fun Mommy.

We will not attend the Southern University football game this weekend, but this is my baby supporting and cheering for my brother, who plays on the team. GO #5

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!!!

Hey gang! I know a lot of you went to work out tonight but If I come on a Thursday I will work out at home as it is hard for me to go to the burg twice in one day. I did get my walk in after work and then I had a bite to eat. I then got on the bike and rode for what seemed forever. I am just now getting through and going to clean up the kitchen as some how my husband and I are childless and grand childless tonight. To all above the yellow line congratulations today and to the four below keep your chin up and your minds set as you know you can do this. you have proven it already. Just look what you have accomplished already. I would like to give a big PAT TO EVERYONE ON THE BACK AND SAY GOOD JOB!!!!!!!! Hey did you see that funny video of everyone trying to do jumping jacks. Thats funny! I don't care who you are!!

Well I gotta go for now and know I am thing of all of you and will say a prayer for all of us. LISA don't get eat by the fried green tomatoes tonight. LOL

Love ya

Judy

Denise Jones - Haddox

I loved the portion control game we played at FGH Wellness today, it really lets you know how hard it is to make the right choice. Jennifer and the FGH Wellness team did a good job with it.

Eliminations are getting HARDER and HARDER as we get to be closer each week, it is hard to send anyone to go home . I am happy the group does not have to do this and we leave it up to the viewers at WDAM to make this decision easier.

I know how it is to be below the yellow line and it is tough and very nerve racking. Everyone pray and vote, vote, vote.

This is my day off from exercise today. I had to work 11 hours and a little tired and a very stressful day all around. Rest assured I will be back at the GYM tommorow.

Denise

I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!! (MS.RELONDA)

Hey everyone... We've made it thru the 4th week and unfortunately, I am up for elimation--BUT... I will be doing every thing in my power this weekend to be saved by my family, friends and co-workers. I will be participating in the heart walk and I expect a lot of fun out of that. I am not really nervous about this elimination. I have come a long ways. I have been successful in the competition and if I'm not the chosen one, I WILL NOT GIVE UP because I've come too far to turn around. I will reach my goal because through this learning experience, I have taught myself I can do all things through CHRIST and thats what I believe. This is the most exciting challenge that I have ever been a part of and I feel extremely confident in myself this round. I'd like to thank my family and friends for supporting me and WDAM and the Forrest General Wellness team for this experience. I look forward to continuing in the competition. See y'all next week!!!!!!!!!!!

Martha Parker

We'll it's voting time again and I'd appreciate your vote. I am going to be participating in my first walk/run this Saturday in Laurel. We will be wearing our biggest loser T-shirts so if you see us let us know it. I am so excited about being fit and healthy. I have walked 16 miles this week on the treadmill and attended one yoga and one cardio/toning class so that's an example of all the hard work we are all doing to make you proud for us.

We are a very close nit group of contestants and it's hard to let any of us be below the yellow line. Everyone is working hard over at the FG Wellness Center. God Bless you and thank you for voting to save me this week.

LISA GATWOOD

Well I'm happy that I'm not in the bottom 4, but at the same time I'm sad for those who were.
I hate to see anyone in the bottom let alone leave. I have really strong feelings for everyone.
We have such an awesome group. I'm just so glad Ive been blessed with the biggest loser competition. Thanks to WDAM and Joesph, and Forrest general wellness team. I have got to meet wonderful people. I have tried very hard as i know others have.
I love Jennifer's way of doing things and her enthusiasm. Rebbecca gave me a good diet plan and how simple it was i love it to. I'm doing this for myself. but when you feel like you have so much support ,and that's how you know these people care. You're just not a job or a number your a person to them and that's what makes a difference. Ive tried many programs many trainers and failed but i didn't know why now i do. So if there is any one out there reading this and you feel you'll never be able to do this on your own( sign up)with the help of all the staff at the gym and all the different programs they have YES you CAN. I thank God every night that I'm not in this alone there is other people with me and as he carries me I know they will to. Keep us in your prayers.
Great job everyone!

Hi everyone and I wanted to say good luck tommorow. You know i love working out with everyone and I have been missing all of you. I have been having to come in earlier around 4pm.

Denise

Judy Price (Mimi)

Evening to all and hope you have had a good day. I had a very busy day at my job. No rest for the weary. HA HA! I was going to make my walk today but you guessed it. Rain all afternoon until night fall. Well I got on bike and have a pretty good while on it. I do miss everyone when I am not there. Hope all has a good night and we all do real good tomorrow at the rally session. Again thanks to all the contestants for their spirit and their friendliness to each other. Thanks to my family for being there for me as well. Does anyone know if diet green tea is as good as water because I love it. I am beginning to like unsweet tea with splenda too. Just wanted know if it would be the same as water.

See all of you tomorrow. Get good rest. We all work hard and rest sure helps too.

Judy

Adrienne Patterson

Tonight was our last chance workout. I cannot express how truly blessed I feel that this competition has brought us all together. I have met an amazing group of people, both the competitors and the wonderful staff at Forrest General Wellness. I had a good time working up a sweat tonight with Denise, Lisa, Mitch, Deana, Martha, Melvin and John. Good luck everyone, see you all tomorrow at the rally session.

Amber Finnegan

This is my sweet little boy that I am working so hard to get in shape for! I am loving every minute of losing this weight but I am missing him dearly. I talk about him all the time so I just wanted to post a picture of him so everyone could see him! Hope to see everyone today for a short while. His first haircut is at 5:45...I thought it was at 6:00 but it got moved up so I will get a quick 30 minutes in at the gym tonight!

Teresa Davis

HI everyone hope you are all doing well and GOOD LUCK tomorrow at the rally session I want everyone to know that I am still working out and losing weight however I will not be coming in the weight in sessions or others I feel at this time that I am going to enjoy the time I have left and do what is best and finish my time with FGH Wellness I have enjoyed talking with all of you and the staff at FGH wellness I hope to see yall at workouts. But at this time I need to focus on my family My daughter kaylee has been diagnose with the Swine Flu and we did not catch it in time they told me she will get worse before she gets better my son had it and we caught it she had diffrent symptoms and we did not know so please keep her in your prayers hope we don't have to head back to the hospital like we did last night. SO all you all BL keep up the good work and do a little treadmill walk for me too until I get back at the gym.To those who want to keep in touch with me my email is gtkldavis2000@yahoo.com(BL AND FGH ONLY).

Have a blessed day.

DEANA STEVISON

Good Morning to everyone, my work week has been hectic, but I actually have looked forward to getting to the gym to see everyone and work off some frustration with work. Amber, I would tell you time management gets better as they get older, but they get involved in sports and school activities, but remember take time for you, and don't clean his and your plate. Just look at me, I got this way by not taking time for me and saying to my myself, oh I can't let that go to waste, I'll just eat it. You are a beautiful young mother, take care of yourself. I agree with everyone, it great to work out together and we are fast becoming friends. I hate you had a bad experience last night Amber, I know we probably have too much fun working out and at times make too much noise, but so far everyone has tolerated us. A Special Thanks to Kaleb, Chris, and Kim at the Livewell Center for putting up with us and being there for us. Thanks, Deana

Amber Finnegan

Good Morning Biggest Losers and Friends! I have had a not so productive week at the gym...I have had no time this week! I got a good work out in Saturday, Sunday we laid tile and I painted in my bedroom until about 9:30 Sunday night. We are in the process of remodeling...ugh...not so fun! Monday, I did not get home until 8:00 and by the time I got Reid fed and to bed it was 9:30...by this point I was too exhausted to workout. Yesterday, I got about a 45 minute workout in at Arlington Loop. I did all Cardio and then I had to be home by 6:00 because my husband had to go somewhere. I need to come workout with all you Biggest Losers. I had a horrible experience last night by working out next to a very rude lady. When I got to the gym it was raining and absolutely freezing in there already. I like to sweat when I work out and since it was already so cold, there was really no need for the isolating fans. So, I have been at it about 15 minutes going good and this lady walks in, turns on the fan and I ask her if she would mind not turning it on since it was already so cold in there. She told me that she did not like to sweat when she worked out and was so rude about it. She put her ear phones in and would not speak at all. I have had the best experiences at working out at FGH and then you have one rude lady that ruins your evening. By this point, I have chills and I am running on the treadmill. Finally, another treadmill opened up and I moved over to it to finish my workout. Who does not like to break a sweat when they workout??? Isn't that the point? Sorry, I just had to vent a little about that lady. We need support when we are working out, not rude people around us!!! Anyway, tonight my son gets his 1st haircut at 6:00, so I am going to try and get a quick workout in before I have to go out to Newpointe! So, my week has been crazy with not enough time or workouts. I am hoping Thursday that I will still do good at the rally session. I can't wait to see everyone and hope to have a better week next week!

AMBER

Judy Price (Mimi)

Morning to everyone . I know I missed last night at the gym but done my walk and ws on the bike. I wished I could have been there with everyone working out and watching the biggest loser on the t.v. I watched it at home and was glad that all the contestants got to stay on this week as I wished we could all stay until this contest was over. I will be staying home again tonight as well as I have my three workouts in the burg. I will be doing everything I can to work here at home. I will miss all of you as I feel we are all getting close and feel that each of you are becoming my friend. Everyone do good and I will see you Thursday at noon. Ms. Martha I hope your leg is doing much better.

Love y'all
Judy

I hate I have been missing several of you at the gym. I have been having to come earlier and work out because I am picking up my son 6 pm everyday. I have been seeing Lisa there, she has just about become my workout partner. Lisa has been such a great person to conversate with and exercise with, she helps the time to fly by.
I have plans to try to go to the gym at 530am, tommorow. Please pray for me because I am not a morning person.

Denise

Adrienne Patterson

Hello Everyone,

I was out sick today from work and school. I had a horrible sinus headache that would not go away. I did not get out of the bed today until it was time to pick my daughter up from daycare at 4:30 PM. I think the rest and medication worked wonders. I won't make it to the gym tonight, but I will do the treadmill here at home while watching The Biggest Loser. I will miss working out with the gang at the gym tonight, but I will be thinking about you guys.

I hope to see everyone tomorrow night at the gym for our last chance workout.

PS… I was talking to Martha last night while we were working out on the treadmill; I was telling her that I really miss spending time with my daughter because of the late night workouts. BUT when I got home last night and during our mommy-daughter cuddle and reading time, I told her "Mommy was at the gym exercising, I am sorry that I got home so late" and she looked at my with those great big brown eyes and said "good job Mommy". I could not believe that, she is only 2. That proved to me that I have got to do this for myself and to make her proud of her Mommy.

Here is a picture of my little angel.

Martha Parker

I want to say thank you to David McRaney for getting my contestant picture back on the web site. I really appreciate all that is being dong on our behalf during the contest phase.

Yesterday, before arriving at the FG Wellness, I strained a major muscle in my upper left thigh. It was really hard to work out last night becasue I was taking care of my muscle. I walked slowly but I had the incline set near 7 just to get my heart rate up. I also spent some warmup and cooldown time on the NuStep machine. Our biggest drama of the evening was figuring out if Deana was running late or not. We all have overlapping exercise schedule and we worry over each other. Adrienne would not leave until we found Deana. All was well she had to work late, we were so happy to see her when she arrived.

See you all at the gym later tonight.

Judy Price (Mimi)

Well hello to everyone. I'm finally back on line as my daughter had to take her laptop with her and do homework. I was so proud to see everyone at the gym last night. Adrienne, Martha, Mitch, Lisa, Melvin, Artonya, Roro,Deana and myself. I had left the hospital where my husband had had a stint put in his heart. He is fine and we came home this morning. While he was asleep I went for a walk at the track at the Wesley Medical center. While walking I saw somebody jogging and she looked familiar. It was Stella and she told me she had been in another 5k and will be doing another. She looked good and while I rested I struck up a conversation and one girl stated that she knew Melvin and states she was very proud of him. I did not get her name but I believe she goes to class with him. To James and Teresa I am so sorry and want you both to keep up the good work. To Denise and Deana congratulations and Ms. Deana we had a good talk last night. I would just like to say to Jennifer, Martha, Rebecca, and Sherrie that they have all been such a good part of my life and I will always be greatful for them giving us this push to do good for ourselves. They make you want to push just a little harder.

Lots of love to y'all

DEANA STEVISON

I have mixed emotions, I am proud to be in the competition, but I hate to see anyone eliminated, James and Teresa please keep up the good work, because as each week passes, we are all subject to be below that yellow line again. Good Luck to everyone, have a great week. Deana

Adrienne Patterson

I had a great workout tonight. I did 61 minutes on the NuStep and 62 minutes on the treadmill. I have never sweated so much in my life. I never thought it would feel so good to sweat LOL. Before beginning this competition, I thought that I was incapable of breaking a sweat, but this goes to show me that I was not working out to my full potential.

I could not have done it without the rest of my Biggest Loser team there tonight. The time flies by when you are working out and sweating with friends.

It was great to see Teresa there tonight, keep up the good work girl.

James remember that you still have to cook for us, I heard that you are an excellent cook.

ARTONYA

THANKS to all that voted for me. I am so excited and did not expect that precentage of votes. I have to admit I was very anxious waiting the results.
Please keep following everyone that is reading my blog and just remember if I can do this YOU can to.
I was remembering my first day a the gym today and I could only do 10 min on bike and 10 min on nu step . Now I am up to 1 hour Nu step and 1 hour additional cardio ( bike, tredmill, and ellipitical machine) to me I feel like a winner already. Still not up to running like most others or doing the ellipitical over 1 min at a time, my heart rate gets way to high usually 180's.
My brain is ready, but my body is not quite yet.

Thanks Again, I am hoping for a good week.
Denise

Not one word!

I emailed James, Teresa, and Deana to see if they had any news and I haven't heard back. I couldn't figure out which email belonged to Denise so I didn't get to contact her.

I have no idea why this takes so long to update. My nerves are shot for all four of them. Maybe we need to get an email from our stress mentor-Martha on how to relax while we wait for the WDAM ax to fall. Still waiting!

Does Anyone Know the Results?

Hey Everyone!
Does anyone know the results from the voting? I am just as anxious as the rest of you and most of the time WDAM has it posted by now! Just checking. Good luck to everyone again!

LISA GATWOOD

Hi everyone! I hope every everyone is doing good. I'm feel for those that were on the bottom line,I had anxiety attacks all weekend about it. I wish we could all stay, I like and love everyone I have met in this competition. I hope everyone will be OK about it. I know one thing we are all winners in this comp. We have learned a Lott for Jennifer, about exercise,Rebbecca about food, andMartha about stress. We have all been blessed with the knowledge. and this great opportunity from WDAM. (Go JOSEPH) We have all lost some weight and we have all formed a bond with each other. I'm so proud of every last one of us. I plan going to the gym hope to see some of you there, I'm bringing a Friend to join I told her how much I love it.Oh! happy birthday Martha. Please remember to pray for us.

Amber Finnegan

I had a great workout Saturday morning and then came home and spent the day running around like crazy with my family. My husband wanted to try the Flaming Pineapple Restaurant in Moselle on Saturday, which was FABULOUS, so I agreed! I went not knowing the menu and got there to find they had grilled fish! Yah! So I ordered the Grilled Tuna and they said the sides were a large slice of garlic bread, french fries and baked beans......ugggghhhh! So, I immediately ask if I could substitute the fries for a baked potato or salad and they said they did not offer either. The sides they mentioned were all they had so I said ok. I was so proud of myself, because I managed to eat around all the Fattening sides and just eat my tuna! Before, I probably would have ate it all! This is good news for me! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Happy Birthday, Martha, see you tomorrow night, glad you had a good day. Good Luck to everyone for tomorrow, Martha's right we are all winners when we got accepted as one of the contestants. Deana

Back from the 5K Training

AND I am not ready at all. Running is the hardest thing that I have ever done. RoRo and Artonya were there too. The 5K trainer Katherine was very encouraging, she walked with us and encouraged us to run. I tell you, I could not have done it without her. I see now that I have to increase my endurance for the real 5K in November.

Everyone please remember to vote, today is the last day to do so. I hope to see everyone at the gym this week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTHA!

Martha Parker

Today is my birthday! I have had a really great day! I stayed in the boundaries of the food plan. I went out to the track this afternoon and ran/walked 3 miles. I was tired when I finished but it was a great workout! Everyone one is working hard and it's so hard to lose any of us know because we are becoming friends and we work really hard to encourage each other especially anyone that has been eliminated. We are a team working to change our lives. Jennifer Centola is the Exercise Physiologist at Live Well and she is doing a great job taking care of the team. I loved my mentor session that I had with her on Friday morning. She was very encouraging to me for the progress that I have made toward having a better healthier life when this is all over in November. I am so excited to be participating in the 5K race because I have always wanted to do that. Now I am doing the walk/run in Laurel on September 26th and it's a dream come true. Thanks to WDAM, FG Wellness, Ashley Home Furniture, Antonelli College, All Health, Corner Market, Belk, Play it Again Sports, and JMH Graphics our health dreams are coming true. There will be one prize winner but I won the day I was accepted as a contestant. Thank you all.

Adrienne Patterson

I haven't been feeling too well, after church I went to Walgreen to get some medicines and will take a nap now and hopefully I will wake up feeling well enough to do the 5K training at 6:00 PM, I really need that cardio. I will post an update later.

Denise Jones- Haddox

I have been nervous this whole weekend, about this below the yellow line thing. I am wishing all of us the best, I will continue with the exercise and diet if i dont make it, but i wonder if I will be as aggressive about it as I am now. That is why I want to stay in because I believe I need alittle more before I do this on my own.
Well I am going to get up now and clean my house then go for a walk. I guess we will know by tommorow who made it. Good luck to everyone.

Adrienne Patterson

Today was a great day, I got to spend a lot of quality time with my husband and daughter. I have been spending so much time away from home with school and exercise. We went to the movies tonight to see the new Tyler Perry movie, it was a excellent movie (I love any movie that can bring a tear to my eye).

Can you believe that I held my daughter during the movies while her and my husband barfed down some warm, buttery popcorn. LOL But to be honest, I was not tempted to eat the popcorn at all. It was a joy just to see her enjoy it so much. I had a plum in my purse just in case I needed something to nibble on, but I didn't need it.

I came home from the movies and worked out on the treadmill for 66 minutes while listening to Southern University beat Tennesse State 21-17, I love the internet! I was able to log on to the local radio station in Baton Rouge and listen to the game like I was there. A couple of times I almost fell off the treadmill screaming and jumping in excitement (my brother is #5 on the team) GO JAGUARS!!! What a great workout and a great defeat!!!

DEANA STEVISON

Just a Thank-you to everyone that has called me and gotten in touch to be supportive, Thank God for friends and family. I am truly blessed in so many ways, and a special Thank you to Melvin and Martha, you guys are great. Everyone keep up the good work. Deana Stevison

Judy Price (Mimi)

Good Saturday Evening. I have been through my birthday party
and d I did very well. I did not eat a piece of cake nor ice cream. I was not tempted that much. I just got a cup of coffee and went on about my business. Now the hard part. It has been left at my house. I will just have to resist the temptation. I went and worked out today and saw James (Pete) leaving as I was coming in and then while working out Lisa and RoRo came in as well. We had a nice little talk. Also I walked the treadmill along side Johnathan for a while. He is still kicking it! I will not be able to blog for the next couple of days as my daughter will have to have her laptop to be doing her homework. I will blog as soon as I can. Everyone have a good weekend and I will see you Monday at the gym. Everyone voted yet? I guess WDAM got the voting bug fixed because I have only been able to vote once.
SEE ALL OF Y'ALL SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DEANA STEVISON

Good Morning to everyone, hope you all had a good day yesterday and even better one today. Melvin and I worked out last night at the Laurel Wellness Center because the weather was ugly in Laurel, avoided that driving. No pain, No gain, I also am feeling those sit-ups from the challenge contest on Wednesday, but we had so much fun. Four weeks ago there is no way I could have stayed on the elliptical for 30 minutes and the treadmill for an hour, sweating actually feels great, I am looking forward to going and working out, scary huh? I will spend quality time with my grand-son today, can't wait. My 3 girls, and my little man are so precious to me, I have been selfish that I have not already got up and started getting health for them and me. I feel so much better, so it can only get better and better. Talk to everyone later, Deana

Judy Price, (Mimi)

Hey guys, hope you had a good day today as I did. I was up and working out today by 7 a.m. as I had an appointment with Jennifer at 8:30. After the appointment I stayed a little longer. My legs were so tired. But
Im still having fun and learning so much that I did not know. I will come to the center on Hwy 49 in the morning if the Lord is willing as I have to watch my grand kids for a bit. When I get back it is the Big 4th birthday party for my grandaughter EMILY. I want to wish each and everyone the best of luck this weekend and wish everyone could have their name called Monday. I know I could be in the same boat next week. This is all been real fun but its no laughing matter, as we all need this.
Lots of love
JUDY

Hi Everyone just wanted to post a update...I have had the most excellent day its Friday for one I have stayed on my diet and workout by chasing kids which I keep..I want to wish everyone a great weekend maybe I will not get the phone call but if I do I will not let it get me down..I will continue with my weight loss cause I feel so much better about myself.

However with those 25 push ups I am still feeling it hope to see everyone soon Take Care and God Bless I did do a video but I think something may have happened or it did not turn out but I still hope to get some votes.PLEASE!!!!!!!!!PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
This picture is of my son he is an awesome ballplayer....Love you Luke by the way his middle name is Anakin for those who are Star Wars out there.:)

Adrienne Patterson

Went to the Live Well Center today and worked my butt off (I had to work extra hard because Jennifer was on the elliptical right by me, I think she just came in to make sure I was working hard) LOL. After yesterday's weigh in I was advised to do more cardio and that is exactly what I am doing. I was doing too many of the toning classes and not adding cardio after those sessions. Hopefully this will get the scales moving in the right direction again.

It was so hard to have a gain when you think you are working so hard. But that is why this program at Forrest General Wellness is so amazing, they are there with the solutions to all of our eating, exercise and stress issues. Thanks

DEANA STEVISON

I just read Denise's, James', blog, my heart is touched, everyone that is below the yellow-line, we all have genuine reasons for being in the contest, I pray that God will be with each one of us, regardless of the out-come of the vote, and up-lift us in our journey to getting healthy. Also, Joanna, your blog was inspiring too, we all encounter different obstacles, time schedules, and body make-ups, having the team at the Livewell Center is awesome. I agree with James, lets work hard and get to our goal. Love in Christ, Deana

DEANA STEVISON

HELLO, HOPE I FIND YOU HAVING A GLORIOUS DAY! Yesterday was our weigh-in, and unfortunately I fell below the yellow, for the first time in four weeks, I need your vote to stay in the competition another week, we are down to 14 team members, that are all great people and fun to be around. You watch the national show, but don't realize just how much these people come to rely on one another for support and you gain new friends, so each week as the competition gets closer and closer we are all subject to falling below the yellow. I have been fighting with health issues for the last year and I want to live a long life, so this means a great deal to me to be given another week with the team, so go the WDAM.COM and VOTE. Thank You for your SUPPORT AND REMEMBER WDAM AND THE FORREST GENERAL LIVEWELL CENTER, this Biggest Loser contest is work for them as well, so support them and check out their programs. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU DEANA

Voting has started.

Mitch, I found some info on the internet that might help you with yoour shin splints. Here are some highlights. I get these also and I am going to try stretching more etc....

Most of these causes are contradicted by the MayoClinic's website The reason is that some runners overstride, and land heavily on the heel with each footstrike , where trainees march extensively by extending the leg forward and forcefully striking the boot heel on the ground. When this happens, the forefoot rapidly slaps down to the ground. Effectively, the foot, which is dorsiflexed prior to making contact with the ground, is forcefully plantarflexed. This forceful plantar flexion of the foot causes a corresponding rapid stretch in the attached muscles. A reflex in the muscles responds, causing a powerful contraction. It is this eccentric contraction which leads to muscle soreness and possible injury to the muscle, tendon or connective tissue.[citation needed]
It is also believed by NATA athletic trainers that a contributing cause of shin muscle pain in some cases is the relative weakness of the muscles on the front of the lower leg compared to those in the calf. Exercises designed to strengthen the muscles of the shin are prescribed to even out the muscle imbalance. Over time, usually at least 10 days, the pain in the shins is slowly alleviated as the muscle imbalance is corrected. The shin pain is attributed to a forced extension of the muscle, in this case by the opposing calf muscles which "overpower" the shin muscles.

[edit] Acute treatment
The immediate treatment for shin splints is rest. Running and other strenuous lower limb activities, like basketball and other sports which include flexing the muscle, should be avoided until the pain subsides and is no longer elicited by activity. In conjunction with rest, anti-inflammatory treatments such as icing(your shin) and drugs, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (in particular, NSAID gel) may be suggested by a doctor or athletic trainer. Over-the-counter pain relievers can also be taken, though there is some controversy over their effectiveness. Furthermore, the lower legs may be taped to stabilize and take some load off the periosteum. Finally, using good shoes (ideally compensating for individual foot differences) is important. The shin can be trained for greater static and dynamic flexibility through adaptation, which will diminish the contracting reflex, and allow the muscles to handle the rapid stretch. The key to this is to stretch the shins regularly. However, static stretching might not be enough. To adapt a muscle to rapid, eccentric contraction, it has to acquire greater dynamic flexibility as well.

Today was a very emotional day for me at the Rally. I fell below the yellow line but thankfully I had immunity from the challenge on yesterday. However, I was devastated because I felt that I was doing everything right. I immediately went in to talk to Jennifer and Kim, I cannot say thank you enough for your pep talk. I walked in the office in tears but left out full of hope.

For those of you out there reading this, Forrest General Wellness offers a Weigh In Weekly, that is very similar to the Biggest Loser competition. I cannot tell you how invaluable this service is to have. Being apart of the Wellness Center, you have access to both of their wonderful, fully stocked facilities. BUT even better than that, you have access to the professionals that are there to design a plan that is designed to work for YOU. We all know that everyone is different, so how could we all lose weight doing the exact same thing as everyone else. I also want to thank Rebecca for always answering all of my MANY nutrition questions, they are so patient and caring.

After having such an emotional evening, I went to the Wellness Center tonight and had a great workout. It made my day to see John Rhymes there with his lovely wife, he is working out just as hard as ever.

Everyone have a great weekend and let's not forget to vote. It is so hard because I have grown to love everyone in the competition. It is unbelievable how this competition have brought some wonderful people into my life. I am forever grateful for this opportunity.

James Green

Well I'm below the yellow line this week and this was what I was expecting, my weight did not go down until Tuesday. I was doing everything right I guess this was my week for not much weight lose. I did manage a lost of 5 lb., and that was 2 lbs. off of my goal per week. I need your help, vote for me to help me reach my goal in this competition, it has been good for me and helped me stay focus on what I need to do each day. I thank you for your vote.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a good day today at the rally and was rather shocked
to have been the top of the leader board for the week. I know all that can change in a second. I went for my walk and got almost home and was moving out of the way to make a 10 sec stop and when I did I slipped from some mud that the road was being fixed after a water line had broke and fell on my bad knee. I just scrapped my knee and I will be fine. I want every one under the yellow line to keep on smiling and keep on working out and get those votes coming in. I will see all of you soon. By the way this is my grandson Logan and my grand daughter Emily! This is what I live for. Lots of love to every one.
Your friend Judy

THANKS JENNIFER FOR YOUR COMPASSION

Well, I have slipped this week because I have eaten carbs after 3:00. Although, I have exercised a total of 4 days this week. I'm losing, but I slowed down to about two pounds this week. But, I have set my goal for next week to lose 5 pounds.

I'm sorry to hear about those who went below the yellow line this week. Just remember who you are doing this for. This race (LOSING WEIGHT) isn't given to the swift or the strong, but for those who will endure (REACH THEIR GOAL AND KEEP IT OFF).

Just have fun and know that prizes or recognition isn't worth your health. Instead, LISTEN and BE AWARE of what your body is telling you.

Jennifer, you are AWESOME. I thank you for your compassion. You stated, "I'm Going to Take Care of ALLLLL of YOU!!!" Everyone, BELIEVE THAT!!

Vote for Denise Jones-Haddox

OMG, I am below the yellow line. I have been doing everything I am suppose to I am eating the right foods and excercising up to 2 hours a day. I just had a bad week. I have lost 19 lbs since the contest started. Please keep me in this game, I love the accountability it makes me have each week. FGH Wellness has been such postive thing for me.
So if you are deciding who to vote for , Vote for ME.
Thanks,
Denise Jones- Haddox

Martha Parker

Today was Rally Day! I am so happy to have won immunity yesterday because I needed it today. Everyone is working hard in the gym and it's getting increasingly difficult to stay above the yellow line no matter how much weight you lose that yellow line can catch you. I am proud of everyone and enjoying our times of fellowship and hard work at the gym. We have four below the line this week so don't forget to vote this weekend.

Martha Parker

The challenge was fantastic! I guess if you’re wondering what we did that was so much fun. I’ll try to tell you. We arrived at the Payne center in the pouring rain. We found our court and waited to find out what the challenges would be for the day. The first challenge was a basketball free throw so you had to toss as many baskets as you could get in a preset time. We broke up into teams for that one. Our second challenge was the tug-of war, you had to win best two out of three rounds. That was evens against odds and the odds won both times. The third challenge was The jump—four team members each jumping from the previous persons landing spot to see which team jumped the longest distance. The fourth challenge was three legged race and the Fifth race was a four man split. One had to jump rope, one had to do push ups, one had to do sit-ups, and one had to run a 50 yard dash. All the teams were constantly changing when suited us fine because we are working as one team during the week. Everyone is encouraging each other and we are celebrating our accomplishments as we go through this journey.

For myself, I was so shocked to get two baskets in the free throw, you have no idea how happy I was to tell my sons, Alex and Joshua that I made those two shots. I was also proud that I did so well in the jump rope competition because it’s been a long time since my elementary days out at Sunrise when I was a jump rope girl but seemingly I picked it right back up. At days end, I was absolutely shocked when my name was called that I’d been one of the three highest point collectors of the day. I won immunity. I was so overwhelmed with joy. My mom was there to celebrate the day with me and later I got to share it with my boys. The Challenge Day is a day I will never forget, I succeeded at things I never thought possible before the competition.

Amber Finnegan

OK....Yesterday was AWESOME!!! I had so much fun with everyone and I think we all gave 110%! I can't wait for another challenge like that! Ro Ro...I had a great time in the 3 legged race with you...15 seconds...I think we did great! Congrats to Mrs. Martha, Mr. Jo and Mrs. Adrienne for their success on not getting eliminated! Way to go! This group of people is so incredible and I can't wait to see you all at noon today! I am having a great day no matter what happens at noon but I am hoping for the best. Today, I woke up and put on a pair of my work pants to find that they were tooooo BIG!!!! This will probably be the last time I wear these and that is such a good feeling! Can't wait to see everyone today!
