Amber Finnegan-BL 09 Blog 2
Well, today has put a damper on my workout week. I woke up this morning with a relapse of my sickness from 2 weeks ago. No fun. I had to go back to the DR. today and get another shot and start another round of antibiotics. I have been in bed all day and will probably be there again tomorrow. So no workouts for the next two days at least. This is very upsetting because I was doing so good. I am continuing to eat healthy and do good and I will pick up right where I left off. I hope my sickness goes away SOON so I can get back in the swing of things. Hope to see everyone on Thursday and be better!

It is hard managing work and working out. I am trying to do as much as possible, still at about 1 hour a day is all I can do. Eating well , staying within the diet plan and remaining full. I am not hungry - VERY SUPRISED!!! :) No sweets for over a week now !!! That is a great for someone who thinks she needs one after every meal.

Tuesday is a very busy day for me, since I work full time and take two courses both classes meet on Tuesday. But I am proud to say that I had a great workout on my lunch hour. I love the treadmills at the Wellness Center with your personal tv attached, so you can watch whatever you want to watch. Today, I was able to watch The Young and the Restless and work up a sweat all at the same time.
I had originally planned to workout after class tonight, but I knew that I would be too pooped.
I am heading home now to put my baby to bed and get ready for another great workout tomorrow, trying to get my last minute workout in so that I can be ready for Thursdays weigh in.

I went to the gym and it was filled with fellow contestants. I have been walking, walking, walking, but tonight I hit the gym and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone is friendly which is just a part of living in the Pine Belt, I think. I am enjoying meeting new people and sharing this experience with ordinary people just like me who need to have a regular exercise program.
The Pre-blog
Ok, this is my pre-blog. It’s 12:34 on August 21stand I am just waiting for the phone to ring. I am either one of 20 happy people or one of 15 disappointed people. I guess if I am a disappointed one you’ll never see this pre-blog. Being in the top 35 was exciting.
Going to the assessment and meeting a few of the contestants has been awesome! Just getting to be involved in making an effort to be healthy is exciting. Are you old enough to remember that ABC sports intro for Wide World of Sports when it said you’d experience “the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat.” That’s how I feel right now. The testing and paperwork has been done and we are awaiting the scores from the judges. I have met some really wonderful people and I am looking forward to the next experience in the process. Picked or not picked and waiting for the phone to ring is a long process and it’s silly because you jump every time the phone does ring and it’s not the call you are waiting upon. I think being one of the judges must be worse because choosing between 35 great candidates and picking 20 has to have been a tough job for them. Once this step is over we go on line and then it’s up to you the WDAM viewer to decide the outcome of the competition. If I am selected as one of the 20 this will be my first blog posting because I want you to know how honored and humbled I am to have even been considered much less selected. I hope as the weeks pass by you will support me and root for my success in the competition. To the my sons, the doctors who signed my permission slip, the FGH Wellness Staff who processed us through the assessments, my co-workers and friends who have supported my decision to participate in this competition. I just want to say—Thank you. Martha Parker Oh yeah the phone rang at 4:30 PM and as you can see I am one of the 20 happy people. YIPEE!
